You’re a creative. So that means you’ve created some pretty incredible things. You have created visions and brought them to life again and again. You’ve worked so hard putting your heart and soul into making a product or creating a photoshoot and you feel proud of your work.
Has this ever happened to you–you post some of your innovative work and then just days later you see one of your avid followers on Instagram post THE EXACT SAME THING (it’s usually the follower that tells you how amazing you are and how they LOOOOOOVE everything you do!). Maybe they stole your concept, or your model, or your dress designer, or the exact venue and everything from start to finish was exactly what you had spent months expertly planning and creating. Then, they tap their little finger on the tags of your vendors and voila–they have the perfect resources for THEIR shoot. (booo!!!!)
It’s hard not to feel anger. It’s hard not to feel frustrated. Most of all, it’s hard not to feel defeated. As business owners, we can feel a lot of anger, frustration, and defeat. The irony is, no one in college ever held a class that taught, “How to manage your disappointment and anger in healthy ways.” If they had, maybe we would all be better at managing our emotions around our business. As it is now, I just make sure I have an awesome business coach that I can game plan with.
Today’s video was inspired by one of my coaching clients. In working with her over the last few months, we worked together to launch an amazing product that she put her heart and soul into. Just a week or so after she launched, one of her followers started selling the exact same thing, produced in the exact same way, and mirroring her business on every level. It was devastating for my client to say the least, she felt like all her effort and forward motion was coming to a screeching halt. Today, during our coaching session, I talked about why I wasn’t worried or anxious at all about what happened to her. This video contains a little bit of the advice (the rest is super secret for her to create an empire that dominates the market!) that I shared with her today. We ended the call refocused, realigned with her goals, and with more commitment to deliver the best and most innovative products to all of her clients (with the right marketing in place!).
