This year there is quite a bit of buzz around The PATH Workshops, and I couldn’t be more excited. We have more locations on the calendar, more collaborations, more marketing courses, and longer workshop offerings too (because 2 days in Ireland just isn’t enough). I know there are a lot of workshops out there that you could take, so why sign up for THE PATH?

I created these workshops out of my own frustrations of the “styled shoot” phenomenon. I felt that I was getting pretty shoots,  but I wasn’t making more money.  I was still just as confused about how to save money, how to do my pricing, how to market, how to let brides see me, and how to guarantee that I wouldn’t lose my house if I had a slow month. I was living month-to-month and I was still unsure what the next steps on my path were supposed to be.

I learned in other workshops how to take pretty pictures of ribbon and a pretty person in a pretty location, but I never really learned what to do if the wedding inquiries weren’t coming in. I would leave and feel more secure with my camera, but still feel a little helpless about my business thinking that it just must be me who wasn’t getting it.

The PATH Workshops definitely have the pretty shoots and the camera and posing time (because I know enough to know you want those!), but they also are stock full of all I have learned about bringing in revenue through marketing, diversifying your income, making a financial plan, and how to work smarter and not harder. I’ve been studying solopreneurship for over the last eight years and realize that many photographers are simply doing it wrong and then getting frustrated because they were told it was right.

It doesn’t matter how good your pictures are if no one is seeing them.

It doesn’t matter how amazing your florals are if no one is buying them.

It doesn’t matter how mad skills you have as a stylist if people do not now you exist.

Each workshop comes with access to a FACEBOOK group that is growing and providing a worldwide network of friends and collaborators. In the group, you can ask me questions and get feedback and a sense of community from other attendees.

I’ve got to be honest with you, the wedding industry is changing and it is changing now. I see way too many people who are going to crash and burn if they do not implement better and more practical practices into their brands and business.

It is true that it is saturated, but the smart working, saavy and passionate ones will always rise to the top and be successful. There are ways for you to stop feeling so helpless in your job, for you to thrive and experience more joy and fulfillment, for you to double or triple your income. The PATH takes strategy after strategy and illuminates the way to go for each creative. The marketing laws for the new world are different and much more than just Instagramming (which is what most people are doing). Marketing needs to be 70% of what you’re doing if you’ve been in business over three years. And yet, most of you aren’t doing it.

The thing I’m most proud of is that I’ve made the workshops affordable and this year I’m even offering the business day on its own for those of you who already feel confident in your photography skills.
